In the following videos or video collages Sally Chambers (DARIAH-BE & GHENT Centre for Digital Humanities), Esther de Smet (Senior research policy advisor at Ghent University), Alexis Dewaele (Ghent University),Petra Drenth (EHRI & PARTHENOS), Arjan van Hessen (CLARIAH), Steven Krauwer (CLARIN ERIC), Thorsten Ries (Ghent University) and Toma Tasovac (DARIAH-RS) convey their understanding of impact and research infrastructures. They illustrate important notions, give authentic examples and make some criticism of impact (assessment). The videos result from interviews conducted with the aforementioned experts in the fields of research infrastructures and/or impact.

How to define research impact

In this video Alexis Dewaele (Ghent University) explains the difference between academic and societal impact and provides interesting examples of both kinds of impact.

The relationship between research impact & data management

In this video Arjan van Hessen (CLARIAH), Sally Chambers (DARIAH-BE) and Thorsten Ries (Ghent University) give some examples of how research infrastructures can raise the impact of data.

Metrics for measuring impact

In this video Arjan van Hessen (CLARIAH), Thorsten Ries (Ghent University), Toma Tasovac (DARIAH-RS), Esther de Smet (Ghent University), Alexis Dewaele (Ghent University) and Steven Krauwer (CLARIN ERIC) comment on the adequacy of certain metrics for measuring impact.

Research infrastructures as networks of knowledge

In this video Steven Krauwer (CLARIN ERIC) and Toma Tasovac (DARIAH-RS) share their understanding of research infrastructures as knowledge-networks.

Enhancing individual researchers’ impact

In this video, Toma Tasovac (DARIAH-RS), Sally Chambers (DARIAH-BE), Esther de Smet (Senior research policy advisor at Ghent University), Alexis Dewaele (Ghent University) and Thorsten Ries (Ghent University) reflect on what research infrastructures can do to enhance individual researchers’ impact and what they cannot do.

Research infrastructures as networks of knowledge

In this video Steven Krauwer (CLARIN ERIC) and Toma Tasovac (DARIAH-RS) share their understanding of research infrastructures as knowledge-networks.

The importance of giving credits

Watch Steven Krauwer (CLARIN ERIC) and Arjan van Hessen (CLARIAH) reflecting on the importance of giving credits.
